Running with my dog

Another impromptu walk that was mostly a run, save for dodging other dogs on the track. Buddy was pretty awesome when it came to doggy encounters, mostly ignoring one barking at him through a fence while her human gushed over Buddy. I always have time for someone who recognises a #malamute 😄 However, a certain intact male staffie got ahead of us and we had to hold back a while to make sure we wouldn’t run up behind him. Buddy caught his scent and was pulling hard to catch up because he has some kind of unresolved dog issues with that staffie. When we did encounter them Buddy was awesome again as I encouraged him with an on-by as we ran past. Now he’s all pooped and rocking the car with his panting. With the windows all fogged up, I can only imagine what people think is going on in here. 🤣 . . . . .

How to: raw feeding 2 cats and 1 BIG dog.

It’s a bit of a joke in my family and among some of my closer friends that my animals eat better than I do. And by the end of this post you may agree with them. Every couple of weeks I come out of the supermarket with bags full of offal and hearts (it turns out heart is muscle meat, and not offal), and it’s possible I’m keeping the local pet meat company afloat with my monthly orders – okay, that’s a tad hyperbolic; for a little store in a small town, Matt is doing really well for himself!

To feed my two cats – Smudge and Naavi (AKA EnormousCat/EC) – and my very large dog, Buddy, my monthly spend is probably approaching $100. However, it cost me more than that just to feed Buddy premium kibble, and perhaps the same again to feed two cats for the same amount of time.

So, $100 a month on pet-related food, 98% of which is animal-based products (meat, eggs, fish, yoghurt) – and I’m mostly vegetarian.

I’ve tried to break down the preparation process below, with pictures, but I’ll try to make this more than a pic-dump of gag-inducing pet food preparation.

If you do have a sensitive stomach, however, you may want to give this entry a miss.

Day 4 of 4 – AKA why many women prefer gym buddies

It would be the day I have a few floor exercises when a bunch of ‘guys’ (read: douches) decide to drop by. It would also be on a day when I was the only woman there, so I got to work out through a bunch of patrolling predatory males.

The upside to this – if there can be an upside – is that I felt a little more driven to use heavier weights on a couple of exercises to make sure I look like I can take care of myself. I didn’t feel safe around these guys!

Day 3 of 4 – shoulders + abs day!

Again, really tired today. Also, I’ll be painting an external wall when I’m done with post-workout snack and posting this entry, so I decided I should probably go easy on myself. I don’t want to be falling off my ladder, or have arms like noodles so I can’t even hold a paintbrush.

That being said, even going ‘a little’ easy on myself, my shoulders are sore!
